THE WHAT AND WHY OF DISCIPLESHIP

  • We can’t sit idle. The world needs men and women ready to lead in both humility and boldness for the Kingdom. This isn’t about “doing more”. This is about surrendering more and allowing God to do more…in us…through us. This is not a series of challenges to accomplish but rather a move of the heart toward actively participating in building God’s kingdom.

  • The direction we’re leading men and women begins with the 4S’s: Silence, Solitude, Scripture, and Sabbath. These principles are central to the church’s vision and apply to all believers, regardless of age or gender. However, they hold a special significance for the men and women we aim to shepherd.

  • The most important relationship anyone can have is their personal relationship with God. Modern culture often distracts us with countless demands, crowding out opportunities for spiritual growth. At the Difference, we encourage men and women to invest in their relationship with God through the 4S’s, creating dedicated time for daily spiritual investment. While each person’s journey is unique, active participation in this process is essential.

  • Jesus said to love one another as He has loved us. It’s about relationship. And relationship is discipleship.

Simply put, we will follow the way of Jesus in our own lives to receive love, wisdom, guidance, and the fruits of the Spirit so that our hearts are filled. Then, we will share what we’ve received with others. The goal of every follower of Jesus is to first serve and apprentice their spouse (if married) and family before anyone else. Then, to make a difference each day in the lives of those God puts in our path. And finally, to be shepherded by someone and eventually apprentice 5 people to walk in the true way of Jesus.

THE HOW OF DISCIPLESHIP

  • 1. Learn how to live your life with solitude, silence, scripture, and sabbath (The 4 S’s – DAILY)

    2. Make your home your sanctuary for God and be open to attending or hosting a Home Experience (WEEKLY)

    3. Come together with others for a time of praising, worshipping, sharing, and encouraging others to “run the race with endurance”. And to be visible to the world. (MONTHLY)

    4. Jesus calls us to then disciple others…to walk with them, care for them, love them. Our goal is for each person to disciple 5 people in their lifetime. (DISCIPLE)

    5. Jesus showed us that when we receive love, we are called to GIVE LOVE. We will care for the least of these, walking into every day with open hands in AVAILABILITY. (SERVE)

  • 1. Walk the pathway to the best of your ability. (Be committed to the 5 things.)

    2. Be open to feedback. Be teachable and eager to learn.

    3. Be committed. Let your word be your word and follow through with your commitment to God.

    4. Four intentional outings with the entire group for fellowship, encouragement, fun, and inspiration. This includes one overnight retreat together.

    5. A monthly 90-minute one-on-one coffee, lunch, or dinner with a mentor/friend.

    6. Read any books, scriptures suggested and participate sharing your thoughts and insight.
